Can Visual Studio 2005 BI co-exist with Visual Studio 2003?

I ask because I'm still looking for the source of interface problems I have in using the SSIS designer.

Yes. I have the two side by side and develop projects of most types in both.

Not sure if there is an official guide to this but I have found in the past that it always pays to install the older software first, followed by the later version.

AFAIK, SQL Server 2000 with SP4 is compatible with X64, earlier versions are
not. SP4 is in beta.

Can they co-exist ?

Hi,
Can MSDE and SQl server 2000 standard edition co-exist.
Arvind.Hi
Yes, one just has to be a named instance, not listening on port 1433.

Thanks for your reply, in that case why would the installation of SQl
server 2000 std edition on Win 2K3 64 bit server not complete, it just hangs
at the point
"Setup is configuring your selected options " and it never completes the
installation.
No matter what uninstalling previous editions of SQL server or MSDE nothing
helps.

Can SQL2000 & SQL2005 co-exist on the one server?

i realise you can have both SQL2000 & SQL2005 Client software co-existing on one (developement) machine.

but i cant seem to find a definitive answer on whether i can install both complete databases on a server?

we are currently building a new development server and would like to install both version on it if possible?

Cheers,
Craig

You can install both. You'd have to have an instance name, however.

ie. servername\sql2005

I think it's less confusing if you put both servers on separate instances..

instead of

sql2000: servername
sql2005: servername\sql2005

use

sql2000: servername\sql2000
sql2005: servername\sql2005

this way you know what environment you're pointing to..

Can SQL Server 2005 and Express Edition co-exist?

I just started getting into C# programming, and downloaded the express version for work and at home. At home, I also installed SQL Server 2005 Express, but not at work, since I already have the full version installed. Unfortunately, Visual Studio Express won't recognize the full version of SQL Server, and I was wondering if there would be any problems installing both the full and express versions side by side. As this is my work computer, I don't want to risk it unless I know it's safe. Thanks for any help.

Yes, you can install all of the SQL 2005 editions side-by-side. Installing Express would be a good solution for installing VS on your machine. Let us know if you have any questions with it.

Thanks,

Can SQL Server 2000/2005 Co-Exist On One Server?

Can I install SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 on the same physical server and be able to access them independently through their respective tools (E/M, Q/A, SSMS) and through ADO, OLEDB?

We have an upgrade issue that involves some parallel testing without buying a new server. Hey, i just work here right?

Yes this works just fine
