Can we create composite logical key in data source view?

Hi, all,

Just found that I need to create a composite logical key consisting of a few columns in data source view in order to uniquely identify each row of record for the table in data source view, but then found that I am not able to create this kind of logical key? Is there any ways for us to create such a compoiste logical key in the data source view?

Thanks in advance and I am very much looking forward to hearing from you for your kind and helpful advices.

With best regards,

Yours sincerely,

You can create composite logical keys in the DSV, just multi-select columns, right click, and mark as logical key. However, if an existing physical key (i.e. a key reported by the relational source), then the DSV will not allow you to create any logical key.|||

Hi,

Thanks a lot.

WIth best regards,

Yours sincerely,

Can Visual Studio 2005 BI co-exist with Visual Studio 2003?

I ask because I'm still looking for the source of interface problems I have in using the SSIS designer.

Yes. I have the two side by side and develop projects of most types in both.

Not sure if there is an official guide to this but I have found in the past that it always pays to install the older software first, followed by the later version.

Can unpivot help me here?

HI, I have a source that looks like this:

Col1 Code1 Amt1 Col<n>.....Code2 Amt2....
ABC XY 10 FR 345

What I would like to have is this:

Col1 Code Amt Col<n> ...
ABC XY 10
ABC FR 345

I know I could achieve this by using SQL and UNION ALL:
SELECT Col1, Code1 as Code, Amt1 as Amt, Col<n>...
FROM <mySource>
UNION ALL
SELECT Col1, Code2 as Code, Amt2 as Amt, Col<n>...
FROM <mySource>

But I was wondering if the built-in unpivot transform could do the job here.

Thank you
Ccote

No, it won't. UNPIVOT would help if your data looked like this:

Col1 Col<n> XY_amt FR_amt

ABC .... 10 345

Sorry!

All right! I think that I will stick with the good old SQL ! :-)

Thanks Jamie!

can not open file

Hello,

Using a foreach loop which contains dataflow. Inside dataflow there is a flatfile source.

The following error is produced inthe flat file source.

Error: 0xC020200E at Data Flow Task, Flat File Source [446]: Cannot open the datafile "EqRonnieHK".

Error: 0xC004701A at Data Flow Task, DTS.Pipeline: component "Flat File Source" (446) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC020200E.

Please note, the file does indeed exist

Thanks

Are you using a fully qualified path though? Doesn't look like it. Always use fully qualified paths.

can not login my database when published to IIS

hi,

i am tring to use the 'xcopy' way to deploy my web site, this is the connection string i am using:

"Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;INITIAL CATALOG=;AttachDbFilename='|DataDirectory|\HotStage.mdf';Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True"

it works when in debug mode, but after i depoly it to my XP's IIS, it can not login the database, the error message is :

Cannot Login to the default user database. Login Failed. Login Failed for user xxx\ASPNET

'xxx' is my computer.

i think this problem is cause of improper setting of security, but i really do not know how to set it in this situation, because the database is attached to the db system dynamically.

plz someone help, thx

when you use userinstance in sql server express, once the applicaiton is connected to the database you can not connect to the database using SSMO Express. If you donot want to use userinstance change the connection string . "AttachDbFilename='|DataDirectory|\HotStage.mdf' " this is the part where u are attaching the db in connection string. change it if not needed
