Can we do the Validations in bcp format file
I need few clarifications. I am using bcp 9.0 tool to load the data into the
table in SQL Server 2005.
Can we do validations in bcp format file.
The validations like
1. if the datafile field data is "ABC" I want to insert the data into table
as "DEF" or if the datafile field data is "123" I want to insert the data
into table as "456" .
2. Format the date filed and insert the formated date data into table column
.
3. Assign default values or Constant values for the columns of the table,
the data for those fields are not exist in the date file
Thanks in Advance

I've answered this question in .tools. Please don't post the same question
independently to multiple newsgroups.

Can total be moved to top of column rather than bottom
my second week with the tool, so my apologies if this is a rather
simple question or I am not asking the question properly.
My team has received a specification for a report where the customers
would like to see column totals at the top of the column, rather than
SSRS's default of bottom. I am new to banded report writing, so I am
hoping this is fairly simple. Using BusinessObjects, I would have
inserted a row at the top of the column and then copied the formula
from the total (or subtotal) line up to the line I had just inserted
(then deleted the row at the bottom).
Is there similar functionality with SRSS?
Kind regards,
Steve HaffnerYes, it is possible.
Option-1: If you want to show the total besides the group name: Ask them to
add the group Header(if not available). besides the group name table cell ,
write a expression like =sum(field!columnname.value)
Option-2: If you want to show the total in top of the group name:
right click on table row(Group row) and click on insert row above. and write
a expression like ="Group Total : " & sum(field!columnname.value)

Sriman.

This can be done similarly in SSRS. You can either insert a row/group
in the top of a table control and add something like the following as
the expression:
=Sum(Fields!FieldName.Value)
Also, you can do the totaling in the stored procedure/query that is
sourcing the report and just pass it to the report and create a
textbox control at the top of the table control and include it there.
Hope this helps.

Can this be used as a replacement for Crystal Reports?
from a C# application with parameters passed to it?
Any help is greatly appreciated.VS 2005 has two new controls: winform and webform. The controls can be used
in local or server mode. In server mode you give it the parameters and call
the server which the control then shows the rendered report. In local mode
you give it the report and the tableset data. However, you have to do lots
more work to handle subreports and other types of reports. My feeling is, if
you plan on not having a server around that Crystal reports is designed more
along the lines of your app providing the data. Reporting Services is
designed as a service oriented architecture and although in local mode you
can give it the data, it was not designed with that in mind. With a server
in the picture then the answer is absolutely yes.

Can NOT login in to SQL2005 with SQl Server Mangement Tool
I get the following error when trying to connect to my server that is on my local maching:
provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 233
It happened after I changed the allowed remote connections to 1. It appears tha I can not log into the server at all. Any way to fix this besides reinstalling SQL Server?
Thanks, Doug
You do not need to re-install. Start here for a complete tutorial:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345332.aspx
And then check here as well:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/265808/
If you've done all that, make sure your firewall is set up, as referenced by the "see also" links.
