Can we create distinct values for document map on a particular level?

Hi, all experts here,

Thank you very much for your kind attention.

I am having a question about document map on SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services. I found one problem with the values retrived for the document level. That is, the values are not distinct, they are duplicate for the document level. Is it possible for us to get the distinct values for a particular document level? Hope my question is clear for your help.

Thank you very much in advance for your help and advices. I am looking forward to hearing from you.

With best regards,

Yours sincerely,

Group your data in either the table or list (whatever you are using) and use document map for the group.

Shyam

Hi, Shyam,

Thanks a lot for your kind advices.

Yes, jsut found out that cause I got more than one groups in my reports. And the document map level is not the first group there, so once I run the report, the document map on that level got duplicate values. Now it is clear.

Thank you very much.

With best regards,

Yours sincerely,

Can Visual Studio map SQL Server to XSD Schema?

I am creating an annual XML document to submit to a government agency. They have published an XSD Schema. Our data is in SQL Server 2000.

I need some way of associating columns from tables in SQL Server 2000 with the elements from the XSD schema to produce a valid XML document.

It looks like I could use XMLSpy or Stylus Studio, but I think there must be some way of doing it in Visual Studio 2005. Does Visual Studio 2005 have tools to help me do this? Can anyone direct me to a WebCast or part of the documentation that would dexplain I can do this?

(P.S. If you are curious, this is for the CDFI CIIS)

SQLXML has support for mapping between SQL Server and XSD using annotations in the XSD schema. There is no tool to visualize the mapping. Here is an overview of mapping schemas:

http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms171870(SQL.90).aspx

This article is about SQLXML 4, but also applies to SQLXML 3 which is available on msdn:

Can SQL Server 2005 Express and MSDE CoExist?

I read in the installation requirements document for SQL Server 2005 Express the section on upgrading MSDE to SQL Server 2005 Express. The section indicated that if MSDE is installed via an application installation, that application will have to be uninstalled to remove MSDE. This leads to my question.

The small application I'm looking into developing will require SQL Server 2005 Express. What if a customer is using an application that installed MSDE? Can the two products coexist without problems?

Thanks!!

hi,

yes, MSDE 2000 and SQLExpress can coexists...

SQLExpress installation will upgrade the installed COM based binaries (SQL-DMO) to SQL Server 2005 level, but they have been tested to be retro-compatible and I'm personally not aware of troubles in this area..

Can SQL search for a .txt document

Good Morning,
I am very new to SQL and I'm haveing a hard time codeing some
automation.
I'd like to look for c:\ftp\prod.txt every 5 minutes and when found,
delete it and run a
DT package that will import other .txt documents.
Thanks
RobertHi Robert,
I wrote something similar up in my blog
(http://sqlblogcasts.com/blogs/tonyr.../05/19/450.aspx).
You can add a linked server into Indexing Service (which must be running to
do this).
EXEC sp_AddLinkedserver 'IDXServer', 'Indexing Service', 'MSIDXS', 'System'
You can now access the File System by doing simple queries, your query would
be something like this...
SELECT *
FROM OPENQUERY( IDXServer,
'SELECT Directory,
FileName,
Size
FROM SCOPE('' "c:\" '')
WHERE FileName LIKE 'prod.txt''
AND Directory = ''c:\ftp'' ')

master..xp_getfiledetails 'c:\ftp\prod.txt '
master..xp_fileexist 'c:\ftp\prod.txt '
And besides that you can also use DTS with the FSO (File System Object)

Can RS export word document?

I saw on the report server web page, the word format is not supported for exporting. Is there any way to export report to a word editable document.

Hello,

There are many posts about this in this forum, but a Word export isn't supplied by Microsoft. You will have to write your own or purchase a 3rd party tool. Take a look here, a couple 3rd party tools are mentioned.
